Mexico's steel consumption to rise in 2007

Mexico's government information service Notimex has announced that the country's steel consumption is expected to grow four percent in 2007 thanks to the automotive industry.

Mexican steel consumption is expected to be 26.9 million metric tons this year.

In addition, Mexico's automobile industry is expected to produce approximately 2.6 million units in 2007, up 30 percent from a year earlier. The construction sector is expected to see a 4.3 percent growth and the manufacturing sector 2.7 percent.
