Mexico’s iron pellet production down 11.5 percent in May

Mexican iron pellet output in May declined 11.5 percent, year-on-year, to 586,359 mt, according to data released on Friday by the nation’s statistics agency, Inegi.

On an month-­on-­month basis, iron pellet production rose 8.6 percent from April.

Inegi said the country’s mining and metals production index declined 2.6 percent in May, month-­on-­month, and 4.2 percent, year-­on-­year.

Mexico’s iron pellet production in the cumulative period of January to May diminished 16.8 percent, year on year, according to Inegi’s data.
