The Mexican government said this week it is revising the countervailing duties it has applied on the imports of steel plates from Romania, Russia and Ukraine, following the recent announcement of a number of AD investigations as well as the review of existing dumping measures last week.
The country’s economy secretariat, SE, said the existing tariffs on the imports of the product from these three countries are still valid while it reviews the countervailing duties. SE has established a 67.6 percent tariff for the imports of steel plates from Romania. Imports of the product coming from Ukraine and Russia pay a 60.1 and a 36.8 percent tariff, respectively.
SE said in a resolution published this week at the nation’s official gazette that imports of steel plates from these countries with a boron content of 0.0008 percent or higher are also subject to the review of the existing countervailing duties. As for the imports of steel plates within these characteristics, the current tariffs are 36.8 percent for the purchase of the product from Russia and 60.1 percent from Ukraine.
SE said the period for the review of the countervailing duties will go from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015, while the period of analysis start on July 1, 2010 and will end on June 30, 2015.
SE said the current review of the countervailing duties is a result of a request from AHMSA, dated August 14 this year.
