Mexico has set quotas for imports of finished steel from Costa Rica, according to a report from the Mexican government Friday.

The annual import quota of 2,500 mt for finished flat steel products of iron or non-alloy steel from Costa Rica went into effect immediately as of April 18, after publication in the nation’s Diario Oficial, Mexico’s official gazette.

The Mexican government said the new ruling take place under the “first in time, first in right” mechanism.
