Mexican companies Procarsa, Forza Steel, and Pytco will begin talks with the Ministry of Economy (SE) to combat import prices of steel unfair competition, which mostly comes from China.

According to Eduardo Villareal, director of Forza Steel, damage to these companies adversely affects investment, employment and metal production.

"The pipe manufacturing companies are ready to jump on the bandwagon of attack that is opening the SE in favor of the steel industry’s transformation," Villareal said.

He also indicated that they are seeking retroactive imposition of definitive duties on steel products up to 90 days prior to the preliminary determination.
