Mexican steel production is expected to increase by 6.6 percent this year compared with 2013, said the National Chamber of Iron and Steel Industry (CANACERO) in a report this week.

Further, the association predicts that Mexico will produce 19.7 million tons of crude steel in 2015 compared to an estimated 19.4 million tons this year.  The country produced 18.2 million tons in 2013.

Mexico is the 13th largest steel producer in the world and the second largest in Latin America after Brazil.
