The Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE) announced today the availability of the automatic draft notice scheme of 113 import tariffs that classify steel products in order to take measures and prevent irregular business practices in the importation, distribution and marketing of goods from abroad and to combat illegal import operations as triangulation, undervaluation and incorrect tariff classification.
During the opening speech of the Third Congress of the Mexican steel industry, organized by the National Chamber of Iron and Steel Industry (CANACERO), Ildefonso Guajardo from the Ministry said that unfair trade practices, through the International Trade Practices Unit (UPCI) have resulted in five investigations of dumping since December 2012; two of them already within established provisional antidumping duties.
He also noted that three proceedings were initiated in order to detect circumvention of quotas, and published a final revision amending the application scheme of the final countervailing duty. Finally, he noted that the agency supported Mexican steel exporters in 19 other countries where proceedings were initiated against unfair trade practices and safeguards.
