Mexican auto production rises in August amid declining exports and domestic sales

Mexican auto output in August rose 5.7 percent, year-on-year, to 351,855 units, the country’s automotive industry association, AMIA, said on Friday.

According to AMIA, car production rose in August amid declining exports and domestic sales.

Domestic car sales in August fell 6.5 percent, year-on-year, to 125,331 units, while exports in the same period dropped 0.8 percent, year-on-year, to 260,607 units.

As for the cumulative period of January to August, Mexican auto production increased 10.1 percent year-on-year to 2.5 million units. YTD exports increased 11.1 percent to 2 million units. Domestic sales, meanwhile, increased 0.3 percent year-on-year to 990,492 units during the period.
