Mexican auto production, exports and domestic sales increase in May

The Mexican automotive industry reported improved results in all indicators in May on a year-on-year basis, according to data released on Wednesday by the country’s automotive industry association, AMIA.
 
The trade group said local auto output rose 17.3 percent year-on-year to 327,832 units, while domestic sales increased 1.1 percent, year-on-year, to 122,916 units. Mexican car exports in May grew 13.9 percent, year-on-year, to 257,736 units.
 
As for the accumulated period of January to May, the country’s auto production increased 14.4 percent to 1.5 million units, domestic sales increased 4.8 percent to 615,641 units, and exports rose 14.5 percent to 1.2 million units, all year-on-year.
