Igor Syry, CEO of Ukraine's largest steel and mining group Metinvest, has stated that the company plans to double its annual steel output within several years.

Mr. Syry stated , "Today we produce 15 million mt of crude steel a year. But within several years we are going to double our steel output. We will conduct a full-scale modernization of our production facilities. We will attain leadership in production efficiency and product quality. We will introduce cutting-edge production technologies and become a leader in health and environmental safety at our plants."

Metinvest has an annual production capacity of about 16.2 million mt of steel, or more than 35 percent of Ukraine's overall steel output. Metinvest is also the world's seventh biggest iron ore producer and accounts for about 60 percent of Ukraine's iron ore output.
