Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has stated that its Avdiivka Coke Mill was hit by artillery as a result of armed hostilities on May 21.

According to Metinvest, the electricity transmission lines that feed the plant were damaged, leaving the mill unable to ship finished steel products and receive raw materials. Two out of four high-voltage bushings were damaged as well, resulting in a 50 percent reduction in production volumes of the second coke shop. Power supply to Avdiivka Coke Mill had been cut in January this year due to damage caused by artillery fire.
