Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer based in Russia, has announced its operational results for the fourth quarter and the full year of 2015.
Accordingly, in the fourth quarter, Metalloinvest's iron ore production increased by 4.2 percent year on year to 10.09 million mt. Its iron ore shipments declined by 5.3 percent year on year in the same period to 2.68 million mt. In 2015, its iron ore production rose by 1.9 percent to 39.46 million mt, while its iron ore shipments decreased by 2.1 percent to 10.78 million mt, both compared to the previous year.
The company’s pellet production and shipment volumes in the given quarter amounted to 6.13 million mt and 3.97 million mt, up 8.4 percent and 13.4 percent respectively, both compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Meanwhile, in the whole year, its pellet production increased by five percent year on year to 23.79 million mt, and its pellet shipments increased by 3.9 percent to 14.43 million mt compared to 2014.
In the fourth quarter, Metalloinvest's crude steel production decreased slightly by 0.3 percent to 1.14 million mt, while its pig iron output totaled 449,000 mt, down 6.3 percent, both year on year. However, compared to the previous year, in 2015 the company’s crude steel production decreased by 0.1 percent to 4.5 million mt, and its pig iron output expanded by four percent to 1.84 million mt.
