Russia-based leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer Metalloinvest has announced that its Lebedinsky GOK (LGOK) subsidiary has increased its HBI production capacity by 22,000 mt per year as a result of modernization of all the key units and machines at the HBI-1 plant. The modernization will not only enable the company to increase HBI capacities, but also the share of high value-added products that it produces.

At present, HBI-1’s production volumes are in line with the planned volumes. Its annual capacity is approximately 1 million mt, and Lebedinsky GOK’s total HBI production capacity amounts to 2.4 million mt. The HBI-3 plant, which is under construction, will add a further 1.8 million mt per year to this figure.
