Metalloinvest posts increased iron ore output for Q2

Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer based in Russia, has announced its operational results for the second quarter of 2012.
Accordingly, in the given period Metalloinvest's iron ore production increased by 1.4 percent quarter on quarter to 10 million mt. Iron ore shipments increased by 7.7 percent quarter on quarter in the same period to 3.1 million mt.

Metalloinvest's pellet production and shipment volumes in the first quarter amounted to 5.7 million mt and 3.5 million mt, down 2.4 percent and up 2.9 percent respectively, both quarter on quarter. Metalloinvest saw a 5.6 percent quarter-on-quarter decrease in HBI/direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the second quarter of the current year to 1.3 million mt and a 5.2 percent decrease in shipment volumes to 0.6 million mt compared to the previous quarter.

Crude steel production in the given period was down by 2.5 percent to 1.4 million mt , while pig iron output went up by 0.7 percent to 0.6 million mt, both quarter on quarter.
