One of Russia's largest steel and iron ore producers Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest) is reportedly in merger talks with the Ukrainian steel holding Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD) to create a company with crude steel production capacity of up to 20 million metric tons a year. Metalloinvest has confirmed that talks between the companies are currently taking place but refused to specify the nature of the talks. ISD, on the other hand, declined to comment.
