Russian metallurgical company Metalloinvest Holding has announced that its subsidiary Ural Scrap Company has commissioned its new scrap processing equipment.

The new equipment is designed to press and subsequently cut scrap. The shears have a cutting force of 1,250 mt and can process up to 20,000 mt of scrap per month. The dimensions of the loading are 10 meters by 2.5 meters, which allows the loading of scrap with almost no size restrictions.

Metalloinvest CEO Andrey Ugarov stated that the project will double the mechanical processing capacity of oversized scrap, from 180,000 to 400,000 mt per year, thus significantly increasing productivity of the scrap processing unit. According to Mr. Ugarov, this will also contribute to cost cutting of recycling oversized scrap, including by reducing energy consumption, which is in line with the company’s strategic goal of improving production efficiency.
