Metal One to supply pipe for Sakhalin II until 2005

Japanese Metal One, established in January this year by Japan's largest trading house Mitsubishi Corp. and Nissho Iwai, has made a $280 million agreement to supply 330'000 tons of steel pipe with dia. 1219 mm for the Sakhalin II project. Metal One will procure steel pipes from JFE, Sumitomo Metals and Nippon Steel with 180'000 tons, 90'000 tons and 60'000 tons respectively. According to market reports, delivery will start from this month until February 2005. As previously reported at SteelOrbis, Mitsui&Co. of Japan recently had received a 110'000 tons of steel pipe order worth $85.9 million for the same project.
