Euclid, Ohio-based MesoCoat (a subsidiary of Abakan), which specializes in advanced coating solutions for the steel industry, announced April 15 that construction has begun on a new $6 million facility in Euclid. According to the company's press release, the plant will support production, testing and commercialization of a series of new products.

The CermaClad cladding process will be included in the facility to produce nearly 10,000 m2 of coated, corrosion-resistant pipes, clad tubes, and plates every year. The Ohio-based plant will also include modern blasting and testing machines for producing these products. In addition, a thermal spray system will be installed to commercialize and qualify the company's PComP nanocomposite ceramic-metallic coatings for use in oil and gas, chemical processing, aerospace and mining sectors.

The construction of the Euclid plant is expected to be completed by August 2011, and production will begin at the end of 2011. MesoCoat has also made provisions for further capacity expansion.
