Mechel's net profit rises almost 9 times in Q1

Net profit of Russian steelmaker Mechel rose 8.8 times year on year to Ruble 983.24 million ($36.20 million), under the Russian accounting standards, in the first quarter of 2006. As Mechel reports, the net profit rose due to corrections of the prices.
