Mechel sees decline in revenues in January-September

Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced its consolidated financial results for the first nine months of the current year. In the January-September period, Mechel saw an operating income of $124 million compared to an operating income of $216 million in the same period of 2013. In the first nine months this year, Mechel's revenue from external customers decreased by 25 percent year on year to $5.032 billion. The company's adjusted EBITDA decreased by 22 percent year on year to $470 million.

The revenue of Mechel's mining segment from external customers in the January-September period of the current year totaled $1.614 billion, down 25 percent, while its steel segment's revenue from external customers in the same period amounted to $2.904 billion, down 28 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2013.
