The Russian mining and steel producing company Mechel has announced the conclusion of several supply agreements with a number of Russian steelmakers for delivery of coking coal in the third quarter of 2008.

The agreements in question were concluded for supply of coking coal at a fixed price.

"Signing of such agreements increases transparency and predictability of the market, and has benefits for both coking coal producers and consumers", Mechel commented on the issue.

Currently, the company is considering even longer agreements with domestic steelmakers.
