The Russian steel producer Mechel has announced the commencement of high-tensile stabilized reinforcing wire production at the new equipment complex of its subsidiary, Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant (BMP).

The project, the estimated cost of which is around $4.6 million, was implemented in line with Mechel's investment program for BMP's technical development, which is aimed at improving its product quality, increasing output, reducing production cost and increasing profitability.

In addition, the new equipment will allow BMP to expand its range of products to include low relaxation stabilized reinforcing wire of 4.0 to 8.0 mm diameter, a product which is used by construction companies.

The new equipment was manufactured by German company Ernst Koch and Italian company GCR.
