Anhui Province-based Chinese steelmaker Maanshan Iron and Steel Group (Masteel) has announced that it has received a letter from PetroChina Company Limited (PetroChina) indicating that it has won a contract to supply 100,000 mt of X80 pipeline steel for part of the third line of China's west-east natural gas transmission project. The part of the line in question is the Xinjiang section which will extend from Horgos Port to Changji. The order is the largest one received by Masteel since it began cooperation with PetroChina. Masteel has already commenced production for the order.

Construction work on the Xinjiang section of the 2,445 km third line of the west-east natural gas transmission project began in March 2012 and is expected to be finished by the end of the current year.
