Manganese ore exports via Port Hedland up 5.6% in May over Apr

In May this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland totaled 162,200 metric tons, increasing 5.6 percent compared to the previous month and down 3.7 percent compared to the same month last year, according to Port Hedland Port Authority.

According to the released information, manganese ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 84,000 metric tons in May, decreasing by 33.4 percent year on year and up 5.7 percent as compared to April.

Ukraine was the second biggest export destination for manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland in May, with shipments totaling 78,200 metric tons. According to the port authority, no manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland to Ukraine had been recorded in April this year, nor in May last year.
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
