Malaysia's Ministry of International Trade and Industry announced that it launched an antidumping (AD) duty investigation on alloyed and non-alloyed cold rolled steel coil imports from China, South Korea and Vietnam on August 27.

The investigation was initiated following a petition from a domestic producer claiming material injury because the imports in question were sold at a price much lower than the price in the domestic market and this is alleged to be causing material injury to the domestic industry in Malaysia

Accordingly, the government will announce the preliminary determination within 120 days from the date of initiation. If the final determination is affirmative, the government will impose an antidumping duty at the rate that is necessary to prevent further injury.

The products subject to antidumping duty investigation currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7209.15.00, 7209.16.00, 7209.17.00, 7209.18.29, 7209.18.90 and 7225.50.00.
