Major South Korean steel producers are planning to halt operations for a certain period of time in order to cut their production in September, as stated by Korea Metal Journal. During the planned suspension of operations, there will be no particular repair works at the facilities, according to industry sources.
Hyundai Steel is scheduled to suspend the operation of the large-size mill at its Incheon Plant for 14 days from September 23 to October 6. The company will also halt operations at its Incheon Plant’s small-size mill and rebar mill, at its Pohang Plant’s steel bar mill and rebar mill and at its Dangjin Plant’s rebar mill for seven to ten days in September.
Dongkuk Steel will suspend the operation of its No. 1 and No. 2 rolling mills and of its steel bar mill for seven days in September. KISCO and HANSCO plan to shut down their plants for seven days during the current month, while Daehan Steel will halt its facility operations for eight days. YK Steel’s No. 1 and No. 2 steelmaking mills will be shut down for four days and seven days, respectively, whereas its No. 1 and No. 2 rolling mills will halt production for two days during the forthcoming Chuseok holidays celebrated in South Korea.
