Hunan based Lianyuan Steel's CR sheet
production line commenced operations on Monday, February 27.
Started on February 2004, RMB 2.74 billion ($340.78 million) project consists mainly of 1,720 mm pickling machines, hot dip
galvanized production line and CR
production line.
The designed annual capacity of pickling
production line is 1.5 million metric tons, mainly consisting of CR pickled and oiled sheet for high grade household appliances and
construction industries. The designed capacity of CR hot dip
galvanized production line is 300,000 metric tons, adopting Nippon's advanced equipments and technologies. The specifications of Lianyuan Steel's CR products are 0.25-2.0 x 850-1,570 mm, mainly used for
construction and household appliances industries.
CR products are still in short supply in
China. In 2005,
China imported 7.17 million metric tons of CR sheets, up 4.98 percent year on year. CR imports are expected to decline in 2006, as several CR
production lines have been coming into operation since 2005.
