Latin America’s crude steel output falls

Latin American iron and steel institute Ilafa disclosed that Latin America's crude steel output fell 1.3 percent year on year to 63 million metric tons in 2005. Ilafa indicates that Latin America's hot rolled steel output rose 0.8 percent year on year to 49.4 million metric tons in 2005. Brazil's hot rolled steel output fell from 23.4 million metric tons in 2004 to 22.6 million metric tons in 2005. On the other hand, Mexico's hot rolled steel output rose from 13.1 million metric tons to 13.9 million metric tons.
