The Ukrainian iron ore and steel producer Metinvest Holding (Metinvest) has announced the production results for the first ten months of 2008 of its subsidiary Khartsyzsk Pipe Works (KhPW).

Accordingly, during the period in question, KhPW's large diameter pipe production decreased by 31.9 percent year on year to 248,168 mt. Of this figure, pipes with anticorrosive coating accounted for 242,155 mt, showing a decrease of 42.9 percent compared to the same period of last year.

During the month of October, the mill continued its production of 1,067 х 15.9 mm Х70 pipes with internal and external anticorrosive coatings for the Central Asia-China gas pipeline project, and delivered 27,230 mt of these pipes.

Moreover, during the month in question KhPW's pipe electric-welding shop No. 2 and pipe welding shop No. 4 tested the new 1,067 х 19.1 mm pipes designed for the Central Asia-China project. The results of the tests confirmed the stability of quality indicators and correspondence to all customer requirements.

In addition, KhPW completed the installation of the second internal coating line at its pipe welding shop No. 4, the commissioning of which will allow the mill to double the shop's output. Equipment upgrading was also carried out at KhPW's external coating line.
