According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in Q1 this year the country registered a four percent increase year on year in its crude steel production but an 8.9 percent year-on-year decrease in its production of flat rolled steel, to 907,526 mt and 654,757 mt respectively. Meanwhile, the country's tinplate production amounted to 48,531 mt - up 23.8 percent compared to Q1 2009.
In the first quarter of this year, Kazakhstan's output of ferroalloys increased by 58.45 percent year on year to 426,872 mt, its iron ore production increased by 168 percent to about 11.77 million mt, while its iron ore pellets production went up by 182 percent to 2.17 million mt, all compared to the same period last year.
