JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, produced 15.80 million mt of crude steel in the financial year 2016-17 ended March 31, showing an increase of 26 percent year on year. In the last quarter of the financial year, JSW Steel's crude steel output increased by 28 percent year on year to 4.10 million mt. The company achieved 100 percent of its crude steel production guidance of 15.75 million mt for the given financial year.
According to the company's statement, in the financial year 2016-17 JSW Steel produced 11.41 million mt of flat rolled products, rising by 23 percent, while its long rolled product output reached 3.21 million mt, up 18 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter the company produced 2.98 million mt of flat rolled products, up 25 percent, while its long product output rose by seven percent to 820,000 mt, both compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
The company stated that it produced 1.45 million mt of crude steel in March this year, rising by 15 percent, 1.05 million mt of flat rolled products, increasing by 16 percent, and 270,000 mt of long rolled product, down four percent, all on year-on-year basis.
