In November this year, Indian steel producer JSW Steel’s crude steel production remained almost stable compared to November 2011.
JSW produced 603,000 mt of crude steel in the given month, compared to 601,000 mt in November 2011. During November, JSW Steel produced 515,000 mt of flat rolled products, up 20 percent, while its long rolled product output amounted to 167,000 mt, increasing by 30 percent, both compared to the same month of the previous year.
According to JSW Steel’s statement, one of the company’s Corex furnaces was recently idled for capital repairs and a capacity enhancement project during October this year and is expected to restart in January 2013. The capacity utilization at the Vijayanagar works remained at 70 percent in November this year due to shortage and inferior quality of iron ore used in furnaces.
