JSW Steel to raise production capacity

Indian steelmaker JSW Steel Ltd. said on Wednesday that it would expand its annual production capacity to 4 million metric tons from 2.8 million metric tons. The company also said that it produced 42,000 metric tons of hot rolled plates in April-June period, an increase of 83 percent from a year earlier. On the other hand, production of hot rolled coils fell 52 percent year on year to 249,000 metric tons as the company's plants had shut down during April and May for maintenance. Production of galvanized products dropped 18 percent to 132,000 metric tons for the same reason.
