JSW Steel achieves highest-ever monthly crude steel output in March

JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, produced 12.56 million mt of crude steel in the financial year 2015-16 ended March 31, showing a decrease of one percent year on year. In the last quarter of the financial year, JSW Steel's crude steel output increased by five percent year on year to 3.20 million mt. The company achieved 94 percent of its crude steel production guidance of 13.4 million mt for the given financial year. 
 
According to the company's statement, in the financial year 2015-16 JSW Steel produced 9.31 million mt of flat rolled products, declining by seven percent, while its long rolled product output reached 2.73 million mt, up 33 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter the company produced 2.38 million mt of flat rolled products, down four percent, while its long product output rose by 61 percent to 770,000 mt, both compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
 
The company stated that it achieved its highest-ever monthly crude steel production of 1.27 million mt in March this year, while its Vijayanagar plant achieved production and dispatch in excess of 1 million mt in the same month. The blast furnaces at the Vijyanagar, Dolvi and Salem plants, which were shut down for capacity enhancement during the third quarter of the financial year 2015-16, have resumed operations.
