One of the largest Indian steelmakers JSW Steel Ltd has posted a 35 percent year-on-year growth in crude steel production for April.
JSW produced 715,000 mt of crude steel in the given month, down 10 percent compared to the previous month. During April, JSW Steel produced 525,000 mt of flat rolled products, up 34 percent, while long rolled product output amounted to 155,000 mt, increasing by 35 percent both compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.
According to JSW, the capacity utilization at Vijayanagar works remained at 80 percent in April this year due to inferior quality and inadequate availability of iron ore sold in e-auctions.
