Jiangxi achieves dated iron and steel capacity elimination targets for 2012

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced that targets for the elimination of backward or dated annual iron and steel production capacities for the current year in the province of Jiangxi have already been achieved.
 
In the given province, the overall iron-making production capacity elimination target of 1.5 million mt for 2012 has been achieved, with the elimination of blast furnace No. 1 of Fangda Special Steel and the ongoing removal of BF No. 3 of the same company, while a blast furnace at Pingxiang Xingwang and another blast furnace at Pingxiang Jiayu have also been pulled down.
 
Meanwhile, the steelmaking capacity elimination target of Jiangxi Province for the current year is 500,000 mt. This target has already been achieved with the elimination of a 30 mt electric furnace of Dingnan Zhongsha Structural Section, a 30 mt electric furnace of Ganzhou Baifeng Construction Materials, and the elimination of the 40 mt and 12 mt electric furnaces of Longnan Fufeng Steel.
 
In addition, respective dated capacity elimination targets for 2012 for coke and ferroalloy production in the province, of 500,000 mt and 25,000 mt, have also been practically achieved.
