Japan’s ferroalloy imports down 3.4 percent in January

According to statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance, Japan's ferroally imports totaled 140,311 metric tons in January this year, falling by 5.7 percent month on month and down 3.4 percent compared to January 2011.

In January of the current year, Japan's ferroally imports from South Africa totaled 31,300 metric tons, decreasing by 27.4 percent compared to the same month of 2011, while Kazahstan exported 28,448 mt of ferroalloy to Japan, up 18.4 percent year on year. In the month in question, Japanese ferroally imports from China fell by 0.8 percent compared to January 2011 to 24,978 metric tons.
