Japan's steel exports up in January 2007

Data from the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation show that Japan's steel exports rose 22.8 percent year on year to 2.78 million metric tons in January 2007. In January, Japan's steel exports to South Korea rose 24.6 percent year on year to 724,385 metric tons, while exports to China jumped 63.2 percent to 529,782 metric tons in the same month. In addition, Japan's January steel exports to Thailand rose 25.1 percent to 365,472 metric tons, while those to Taiwan increased 6.6 percent to 244,315 metric tons. Japan's steel exports to the US rose 7.5 percent to 140,106 metric tons in January.
