Japan’s steel exports keep sliding

Data from the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation show that Japan's steel exports fell 4.4 percent year on year to 2.72 million metric tons in September 2005. Japan's steel exports to South Korea fell 10.7 percent year on year to 626'900 metric tons in September, while those to China decreased 24 percent to 416'296 metric tons. Furthermore, Japan's steel exports to Thailand fell 7.4 percent to 332'653 metric tons. On the other hand, Japan's steel exports to Taiwan jumped 41.4 percent year on year to 340'690 metric tons in September. Exports to the US rose 0.1 percent to 122'727 metric tons.
