Japan's steel exports down in March 2007

Data from the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation show that Japan's steel exports fell 3.6 percent year on year to 3.21 million metric tons in March 2007.

In March, Japan's steel exports to South Korea dropped three percent year on year to 821,636 metric tons, while exports to China decreased 1.3 percent to 583,030 metric tons in the same month. 

On the other hand, Japan's March steel exports to Thailand rose 1.1 percent year on year to 349,472 metric tons, while those to Taiwan increased 7.7 percent to 311,852 metric tons.

Japan's steel exports to the US declined 21.2 percent to 169,528 metric tons in March.
