Japan's steel exports down in July 2007

Data from the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation show that Japan's steel exports fell 0.5 percent year on year to 3.01 million metric tons in July 2007.

In July, Japan's steel exports to South Korea rose 11.5 percent year on year to 788,000 metric tons, while exports to China fell 12.5 percent to 506,000 metric tons in the same month.  

In addition, Japan's July steel exports to Thailand rose 15.6 percent year on year to 377,000 metric tons, while those to Taiwan decreased 16.7 percent to 291,000 metric tons.

Japan's steel exports to the US declined 21.2 percent to 146,000 metric tons in July.
