Japan’s steel exports dip slightly

The Japanese Iron and Steel Federation disclosed that the country's steel exports fell 2.5% year on year to 2.82 million metric tons in May. Japan's steel exports to South Korea fell 16.5% year on year to 670'000 metric tons in May and its steel exports to China dropped 14% to 516'000 metric tons. On the other hand, Japan's steel exports to Thailand rose 39% year on year to 377'000 metric tons. Meanwhile, ecports to the US and Taiwan continued to rise. Exports to the US soared 28.2% to 116'000 metric tons, while those to Taiwan rose 26.7% to 301'000 metric tons.
