Japan’s new vehicle sales up

Data from the Japanese Automobile Dealer's Association (JADA) show that Japan's domestic sales of new cars, trucks and buses rose 8.6% year on year to 351'061 units in June. Passenger car sales rose 8.6% year on year to 300'708 units last month, while truck sales increased 9% to 49'146 units. Bus sales, however, fell 8.2% to 1'207 units. Sales of Toyota Motor Corp., the industry leader in Japan, amounted to 148'631 vehicles in June, up 1.8% year on year. Separately, the Japanese Mini-Vehicle Association disclosed that mini-vehicle sales reached 166'378 units in June, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%. Japan's largest mini-vehicle maker, Suzuki Motor Corp, announced that its sales rose 3.6% to 52'983 units.
