Japan's new ship export orders up 50.8 percent in H1

According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in June this year increased by 647 percent on tonnage basis compared to May and by 141.49 percent year on year, amounting to 91 ships, up from 14 ships recorded in May, totaling 3.39 million gross tons, consisting of 72 bulk carriers, 10 tankers and nine general cargo ships. In June 2013, Japan's new ship export orders had totaled 38 ships amounting to 1.40 million gross tons.
 
In the first half of the current year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 254 ships with an aggregate of 10.61 million gross tons, increasing by 50.83 percent year on year. 
 
On the other hand, in June this year Japan delivered 25 ships for export, totaling 993,551 gross tons, increasing from 20 ships totaling 801,431 gross tons recorded in May. In June 2013, Japan's new ship deliveries for export had totaled 30 ships with 1.27 million gross tons.

Meanwhile, in the first half of this year, Japan delivered 152 ships for export, totaling 6.36 million gross tons, decreasing by 14.27 percent year on year.
