According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in November this year decreased slightly by 0.2 percent on tonnage basis compared to the previous month, but rose to 23 ships compared to 17 ships recorded in October, totaling 901,250 gross tons, consisting of one asphalt carrier, 2 ore carriers and 20 bulk carriers.
In both August and September of the current year, Japan's new ship export orders had increased on tonnage basis, while in October Japan saw a slight decrease, all on month-on-month basis. In November 2011, Japan's new ship export orders had totaled 17 ships amounting to 773,790 gross tons.
At the end of November, Japanese shipbuilders' order books for export totaled 157 ships, with a total tonnage of 7.5 million gross tons, falling by 3.8 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in November, Japan delivered 15 ships totaling 610,631 gross tons for export, compared to 27 ships totaling 978,063 gross tons recorded in October this year. In the first 11 months of this year, Japan delivered 324 ships for export, totaling 14.4 million gross tons, decreasing by 7.3 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
