According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in June this year increased to 38 ships totaling 1.4 million gross tons, compared to the 29 ships totaling 953,900 gross tons recorded in the previous month. Japan's new ship export orders in June, including 33 bulk carriers, recorded a very strong increase in June compared to the total of six ships amounting to 499,370 gross tons recorded in June 2012.
At the end of the first half of the current year, Japanese shipbuilders' order books for export totaled 166 ships, with a total of 7 million gross tons, double on tonnage basis as compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, in June of the current year Japan delivered 30 ships totaling 1.3 million gross tons for export, increasing from 21 ships totaling 857,306 gross tons recorded in May this year. In January-June this year, Japan delivered 166 ships for export, totaling 7.4 million gross tons, down 23.4 percent on tonnage basis compared to the first half of 2012.
