Japan's new ship export orders decrease in June from May

According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters' Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in June this year decreased by 44 percent on tonnage basis compared to May, falling to four ships, down from eight ships recorded in May, totaling 162,700 gross tons, consisting of four bulk carriers. In June last year, Japan's new ship export orders had totaled 98 ships amounting to 4.67 million gross tons.
                                                                
In the first half of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 39 ships with an aggregate of 2.0 million gross tons, down 81.5 percent year on year. 
 
On the other hand, in June this year Japan delivered 22 ships for export, totaling 1.06 million gross tons, rising from 21 ships totaling 957,038 gross tons recorded in May. In June 2015, Japan's new ship deliveries for export had totaled 20 ships with 772,173 gross tons.
 
Meanwhile, in the January-June period of the current year, Japan delivered 177 ships for export, totaling 7.61 million gross tons, rising by 22.7 percent year on year.
