Japan’s crude steel output up 1.7%

Japan Iron and Steel Federation disclosed that the country's crude steel output rose 1.7% to 112.89 million tons in fiscal 2004. Strong orders from domestic carmakers and robust global steel demand contributed to the increase in crude steel output. Meanwhile, production of galvanized steel sheet and other value-added products used mainly in automobiles reached a record level in fiscal 2004.
