Japan’s construction equipment shipments to rise

Japanese global construction equipment shipments are expected to rise 5% to Yen 1.55 trillion (around $14.7 billion) in 2005, said the Japan Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA). Global construction equipment shipments rose 18% to Yen 1.47 trillion in 2004, fueled by a 30% rise in exports and a 5% rise in domestic deliveries. CEMA also projects that domestic deliveries of construction equipment will rise only 1% to Yen 602.4 billion in 2005; however, exports will increase 9% to Yen 950 billion.
