Japanese crude steel output down 6.2 percent in June

In June this year, Japanese crude steel production was down 3.9 percent compared to the previous month and by 6.2 percent compared to June 2014, totaling 8.57 million mt, according to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). 
 
Meanwhile, in June Japan's pig iron production totaled 6.55 million metric tons, decreasing by 3.3 percent compared to the previous month and falling by 4.4 percent year on year.

In the first six months of the current year, the country's pig iron output stood at 40.26 million metric tons, down 2.2 percent, while its crude steel production came to 52.63 million metric tons, falling 4.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
